Kilshannig 1-10 Araglin 0-12

Kilshannig held out a late surge to claim their second Division 2 Hurling League win following victory over Araglin at Glantane on Saturday evening last. In a close contest throughout, Kilshannig led for most of the game with a David Cronin goal in the opening half proving to be a key moment in his side's victory. His flicked effort helped Kilshannig into a 1-6 to 0-5 half time lead with Trevor O'Regan and Liam Casey also finding the range. The poor weather conditions continued to make life difficult for both teams after the restart but Kilshannig maintained their four point advantage with Roddy O'Mahony and John Quinn striking early second half points. However, when they were reduced to 14 men shortly after, the momentum swung in Araglin's favour. They began to dominate at this stage and despite the best efforts of the Kilshannig defence, they reduced the deficit to one entering the closing stages. Kilshannig however demonstrated great character and a hard work ethic throughout the team with Pa Cronin, Ian Twomey and Liam Casey particularly impressive. O'Regan extended the lead to two once more and while Araglin pointed a close in free late on, Kilshannig held out to secure a well deserved victory.

Churchtown 2-14 Kilshannig 1-11

Churchtown proved too strong for Kilshannig in their Division 3 Hurling League encounter at Glantane last Sunday. While the visitors were worthy winners, Kilshannig gave a good account for themselves and were always in the contest. Churchtown received an early boost with a first minute goal but Kilshannig kept themselves in contention at the break with a 15th mintue Colin Twomey goal leaving just two points between the sides, 1-6 to 1-4. Churchtown once more extended their advantage after the resumption with a number of fine points before Kilshannig responded well with John Quinn, Michael Twomey and David Cronin all pointing. While Kieran O'Donovan, Dave Ruby and Denis McCarthy impressed for Kilshannig, Churchtown were full value for their victory and sealed the win with their second goal two minutes from time.
