Kilshannig moved a step closer to retaining their North Cork Junior A Football Championship title following their battling quarter final victory over Kilworth at a rain swept Castletownroche last Saturday evening. Kilshannig looked well in control at the break leading 1-6 to 1-1 but Kilworth came storming back into the contest and almost snatched victory. They key score came in injury time, Darragh Mahoney earning a free with Killian O'Hanlon slotting over to secure a semi final meeting with Charleville. Cillian Murphy got Kilshannig off to a superb start with a 5th minute goal and while Kilworth had a goal from the penalty spot midway through the half, it was Kilshannig who dominated with some excellent points from Murphy, Richie Ryan and Tadhg O'Sullivan pushing them five in front at the break. Kilworth though managed to wipe out the half time deficit as Kilshannig struggled for large periods of the second half. They missed a number of excellent opportunities in the opening minutes of the half but Kilworth took their chances as a goal ten minutes from time tied the sides, 1-6 to 2-3. O'Hanlon immediately responded with Kilshannig's first score of the half to move his side ahead once more before Kilworth drew level with a close in free. Extra time looked to be the answer at this stage but O'Hanlon was on hand in the final minutes to ensure his side's progress to the penultimate stage.
