Kilshannig secured their first Division 2 Hurling League win with a comprehensive victory over Newtownshandrum at Glantane on Sunday. The home side set the tone of the game right the start and they completely dominated the first half to hold a 2-12 to 0-2 with Cian Nagle, Liam Casey, Joseph Cronin and Roddy O'Mahony particularly impressive. They had a number of early points before O'Mahony and Nagle had well taken goals to leave Kilshannig well in control at the break. The second half was, as expected, a much more even affair as the result was never in doubt. Newtown started well with a close range goal and a number of points before Kilshannig responded well to maintain their lead with the Trevor O'Regan, Frank McCarthy and the excellent Cian Nagle all adding to their tally to run out easy winners.
