Kilshannig were defeated by a strong Kilworth side in their opening game of the Division 2 Hurling League at Kilworth on Sunday last. Despite playing against the wind, Kilworth got off to a great start and dominated for large periods of the half. They struck two early goals and a number of points to surge ahead. Kilshannig though replied well with David Cronin, Liam Casey and Trevor O'Regan all on target before O'Regan netted a penalty just before half time to leave the home side ahead, 2-4 to 1-4. While Kilshannig reduced the deficit to two just after the break with Tadhg Twomey and Liam Casey impressing, it was as close as they got for the rest of the tie. Kilworth, with the aid of the breeze added two quick goals to end the game as a contest as they ran out deserving winners.

Kildorrery proved too strong for Kilshannig in their Division 3 Hurling League clash in Kildorrery on Tuesday evening. Kilshannig put in a hard working display over the hour but in the end the home side had more scoring power up front. They led 1-5 to 0-3 at the half time break. The goal coming just before the interval while Kilshannig goalkeeper Scott McNamara made a number of excellent saves. John Quinn and Michael Twomey pointed for Kilshannig. While Kildorrery added to their tally after half time Kilshannig remained well in the game when Quinn goaled from a long range free before David Cronin had a second when he found the top corner. However, Kildorrery finished well with a number of late points to secure the league points.
