Kilshannig made sure of their place in the knockout stages of the Division 2 Hurling League with a comprehensive victory over Killavullen at Killavullen on Friday evening last. It was all too easy for Kilshannig, who moved to the top of the league table once more, against a home side that struggled throughout. A strong first half performance put Kilshannig well in control, Trevor O'Regan striking the net to help his side into a 1-12 to 0-5 half time lead. O'Regan, Killian O'Hanlon and Dylan O'Callaghan fired over some excellent points while Denis Clogan, Darragh Mahoney and Denis McCarthy were impressive also. Kilshannig, in fact, should have been further ahead at the break with O'Hanlon and Clogan passing up a number of excellent goal scoring opportunities. The second half continued in a similar pattern with Kilshannig dominating for long periods and they proved more clinical with O'Callaghan and O'Hanlon both finding the net after some excellent passages of play. Killavullen managed a goal of their own but Kilshannig finished in excellent fashion with a number of substitutes excelling following their introduction, Richie Ryan, Tadhg O'Sullivan and Jack Kearney pointing late on to cap a comfortable victory. It was Kilshannig's last game of the group stage of the league, but with a number of rounds yet to be played, they will have to wait to find out their semi final opponents.
