Kilshannig moved to the top of the Division 2 Hurling League table following their fourth win of the campaign, defeating Castletownroche in Castletownroche on Tuesday evening. While the home side opened the scoring, it was Kilshannig who dominated the opening stages with Kevin O'Flynn, Killian O'Hanlon and Denis Clogan pointing before Dylan O'Callaghan struck the net from close range after O'Hanlon had been denied by a superb save by the Castletown keeper. Castletown to the credit, rallied well for the remainder of the half adding a goal of their own and a number of well taken points. Kilshannig though, with further scores from Trevor O'Regan and Frank McCarthy, remained in front at the break, 1-9 to 1-6. The sides swapped points after the restart but Kilshannig began to dominate matters with Brian Guerin, Ian Twomey and Damien Murphy impressive. Killian O'Hanlon was outstanding from placed balls as he helped his side move into a commanding lead. Castletown tried hard to the end but it wasn't to be their night as they missed a late penalty while at the other end substitute Diarmuid O'Sullivan added a point to secure the league points for Kilshannig.
