Kilshannig junior footballers succumbed to their first defeat of the year with a disappointing loss away to Knocknagree in the County Junior A Football League on Wednesday evening. While the home side dominated proceedings for most of the game, Kilshannig in fact led 2-2 to 0-7 just after half time following Dylan O'Callaghan's goal. However, it proved to be their last score of the game as Knocknagree hit an unanswered 1-7 without reply. The opening stages of the contest were close with scores at a premium. The sides traded a point each before Phelim O'Connell edged Kilshannig ahead finishing to the net after Dylan O'Callaghan's attempt was saved, 1-1 to 0-1 by the 15th minute. Knocknagree though dictated matters for the remainder of the half hitting five points in a row to move ahead at the break, 0-6 to 1-1. While Kilshannig retook the lead with a Tadhg Twomey point and O'Callaghan's goal, it was as good as it got for them. Knocknagree quickly drew level and despite being reduced to 14 men soon after they closed out the game much stronger, adding a further 1-6 in the final quarter.
