Division 2 Football League

Clyda Rovers 1-09 Kilshannig 0-08

Kilshannig came up short to neighbours Clyda Rovers in their Division 2 Football League clash at Mourneabbey on Wednesday last. In a close encounter, Kilshannig were well in the contest but a poor second half showing proved to be their undoing. Ahead 0-7 to 1-3 at the break, Kilshannig only added a further point in the second half, a late Ian O'Donoghue free, as Clyda made most of the running. Kilshannig done well in the opening period with Jack Kearney, John Quinn and Bryan Sheehan on target while O'Donoghue, Dave Ruby and Brian Guerin were impressive. However, the dangerous Declan Roche netted a well taken goal to ensure only the minimum separated the sides at half time. With Roche continuing to cause problems for Kilshannig and as Clyda came more into the game around midfield they dominated the second half and outscored Kilshannig 0-6 to 0-1 to run out deserving winners.

Scorers for Kilshannig: I O'Donoghue (0-1 free), J Kearney, J Quinn 0-2 each, B Sheehan, A O'Connell 0-1 each.

Kilshannig: N Shannon; D McAuliffe, K O'Donovan, D McCarthy; B Guerin, D Ruby, J Cronin; I O'Donoghue, A O'Connell; P O'Callaghan, M Twomey, D Clogan; J Kearney, J Quinn, B Sheehan.
