Kilshannig 1-11 Killavullen 1-07

Kilshannig remained on top of the Division 1 Football League table with a battling victory over Killavullen in Glantane on Sunday morning. With both teams in good form coming into the game with three wins from three it was always going to be a tough encounter. The heavy ground conditions made it difficult for both sides throughout. In fact, both teams produced their best when playing into the wind. Kilshannig made the early running with Pa Cronin and Killian O'Hanlon pointing and a Michael Twomey goal left Kilshannig well on top at the break, 1-7 to 0-1. However, a resurgent Killavullen came storming back into the game in the second period as they became more dominant in a number of areas. While a goal midway through the half helped them reduce the deficit to three, Kilshannig's lead never looked in doubt and further points from O'Hanlon and sub Frank McCarthy ensured another league victory.
