Kilshannig GAA Club recently held their Victory Social in Springfort Hall Hotel, Mallow to celebrate the achievements of 2014. It was a hugely successful year for the club claiming the North Cork Junior A, Junior B and U21 B Football Championships and the Minor A Football League. Medals were presented to each team while the selectors of each team were honoured for their excellent work throughout the year.
Killian O'Hanlon was presented with the Billy Kingston Memorial Shield for player of the year award for his excellent performances. Killian was a key member of the victorious Junior A and U21 teams while he also played a major role in helping the Cork U21 Footballers claim the Munster Football title. Patrick O'Connell received the Jack Cotter Memorial Shield for clubman of the year for his outstanding contribution to the club especially so in coaching the junior footballers to our first North Cork title in 18 years. AGM
The AGM of the club was held recently at the complex. 2014 was again a successful year for the club with 3 North Cork titles coming to the club. . Our Under 14 and Under 15 hurlers secured North Cork Championships while our Minor A footballers won the league. Our Under 10âs continued the good record of our club by winning the Brian Cronin U. 10 Football tournament in Dromtarrife. Huge work is continually been in to our young players and all involved are to be highly commended. However, we need more help if we are to cope with our numbers and any help is more than welcome. We would appeal in particular to ex players to give a few hours a week . Please contact any club officer or team manager if you are interested. We would also ask parents to help out at games and training, with water or first aid duties.
As work continues with the development of our new pitch, there will be occasions when volunteers will be needed, with the fencing of our grounds a priority. We look forward to your support in this area . We would also ask people to be conscious of our role in the community and helping to keep our facilities and our roadside tidy and free of rubbish. Huge work has been carried out by the Kilshannig Community Centre, Glantane Community Association and Kilshannig Pitch n Putt. By all our community groups working together, we can ensure our area has facilities of which we can all be proud , while providing top class facilities for both young and old.
