U16s Claim County Title   11/11/2016

Kilshannig 1-08 Sam Maguires 1-06

Kilshannig won the County U16 A Hurling League Final following victory over Sam Maguires in Ballincollig on Sunday afternoon. The sides met in the championship decider earlier in the summer with Sam Maguires claiming county honours but on this occasion Kilshannig came out on top as they led for the majority of the contest. They got off to a good start leading 0-3 to 0-1 early on and were boosted further by a Barry O'Shea goal after 20 minutes. Sam Maguires though narrowed the gap to three at half time, 1-4 to 0-4 and were level within minutes of the resumption. Kilshannig responded well to that goal however with Colm O'Shea pointing to edge his side in front once more. The second half was a tight affair with both sides struggling for long periods to add to their tally. Kilshannig managed to extend their lead to three entering the final ten minutes before two quick points from Sam Maguires left just one between them once more. In a tense finish, Kilshannig defended well under pressure and a late Shane Lyons free confirmed victory for Kilshannig to finish off a fine year with a county title.
