Minors Reach North Cork Final   26/08/2016

Kilshannig advanced to the Rebel Og North Minor A Hurling Championship Final following a thrilling 3-19 to 3-18 semi final victory over Cuchulainns (Kanturk/Lismire) at Banteer on Wednesday evening. It was a superb game of hurling that could have gone either way but in the end Kilshannig just about held out to set up a final meeting with the winners of Ballygiblin or Fermoy. While Cuchulainns raced into a six point lead after ten minutes, Kilshannig regrouped well and overturned the deficit to lead 1-10 to 1-08 at the break, Jack Kearney with the goal.

The second half provided more drama as Cuchulainns retook the lead with two quick goals to move three ahead, 3-10 to 1-13. Kilshannig, though. responded in emphatic fashion as Conor McMahon's 40th minute goal brought the sides level once more before he set up Diarmuid O'Sullivan who finished to the net to put his side two in front with ten minutes remaining. Kilshannig added further points to put four between the sides and despite a late Cuchulainns rally, they fell short by a solitary point as Kilshannig secured their final place.
